Exporting coffee since 1711, Indonesia and more specifically the island of Java is now synonymous with the drink itself. Muhlisin Agropuro is situated in the remote and pristine region of East Java, with the farm perched on the slopes of the imposing Agropuro Volcano. Here, the rich volcanic soil and high elevations provide the perfect coffee growing conditions.
Farm owner Pak Muhlisin studied farming techniques and management at Brawijaya University before returning to his home village to put his education into practice. His tireless efforts over the years have resulted in a coffee-quality revolution in the region. Pak founded a local cooperative in 2014 to gather producers in the area and spread awareness regarding new processing methods to improve quality and therefore the income of local farmers. Pak and the co-operative are also dedicated to improving their surrounding community, donating 20% of their profits to help run the local schools, ensuring education for all.
Indonesian coffees are prized for their unique and distinct flavour profiles, with this lot a shining example of the coffee produced by this farm.
